Theatre Studies Track

In this track, students study for a BA degree in the Department of Theatre Studies and the Department of Business Administration. They gain an in-depth knowledge of the field of Theatre Studies and are intensively exposed to the other disciplines taught at the Institute of Arts – Art History, Musicology and Folklore. During their studies, students meet with managers of leading art institutions, such as the Jerusalem Theatre, HaZira Performance Art Arena, the Israel Festival, the Yellow Submarine, the Israel Museum, the Confederation House and more, and receive a rare glimpse into the way art institutions are run behind the scenes. The students of the program form a close and supportive group, and the program is distinguished by the individual treatment of each student.

During the third year of their studies, students take part in an intensive, 200-hour practical internship, during which they gain experience working in a leading Israeli cultural institution of their choice, selected according to their interests and future aspirations. Students of the Theatre Studies track have interned, among others, at HaBima Theatre, HaZira Performance Art Arena, JCU (Jerusalem Culture Unlimited – an organization advising Jerusalem art institutions), and the Machol Shalem Dance House.

The program also offers its excellent students the possibility of completing an MBA degree within four years of commencing their studies, or alternatively of completing an MA at the Institute of Arts. After graduation, students can integrate as managers in various art institutions, such as theatres, production offices, radio stations, art festivals, opera houses, museums and more. They can work as arts administrators in local authorities and government offices, they can teach, they can work as managers, or they can continue studying and acquire advanced academic degrees.
